Role of I.S.A. (Implementation Support Agency) in Jal Jeevan Mission

Jal Jeevan Mission is a flagship initiative of the Government of India, launched with the aim to provide safe and adequate drinking water through tap connections to every rural household by 2024. To implement this mission effectively at the grassroots level, several support systems are involved, and one of the most important among them is the Implementation Support Agency (I.S.A.).

Key Responsibilities of I.S.A.:

  1. Community Mobilization & Awareness
    Educating rural communities about water conservation, water quality, and responsible usage of water.

  2. Ensuring Community Participation
    Helping in the formation and strengthening of Village Water & Sanitation Committees (VWSCs) and ensuring they actively participate in planning and implementing water supply schemes.

  3. Training & Capacity Building
    Providing training to VWSC members, local volunteers, and other stakeholders on water management, monitoring, and basic technical aspects of the scheme.

  4. Technical Assistance
    Supporting in activities like baseline surveys, identifying water sources, designing pipeline routes, and preparing village action plans.

  5. Monitoring and Quality Assurance
    Ensuring the work is executed as per quality standards and within timelines.
